Do you know that there’s power in Jesus’ blood? Every covenant is sealed with blood, and in the case of The New Testament, it was sealed with the blood of Jesus. The Christian faith is anchored on the shed blood of Jesus, and an understanding of its power and the benefits will help you apply your faith to it.
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. (Revelation 12:11 NKJV)
Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life… For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed… As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. (John 6:53-57 NKJV)
In the Old Testament, almost all things were purified with animal blood, and there was no remission without shedding of blood (Hebrews 9:22). The blood was used for cleansing, sanctification and consecration of things and people. The blood was very important for their continual existence and because the blood of animals had no capacity to take sin away, the blood of animals were shed repeatedly ( Hebrews 10: 1-4)
However, when Jesus came, He shed His blood once and for all. For by one offering He perfected forever those who are being sanctified, and in so doing fulfilled the will of God – Hebrews 10:5-7, 14. Sin consciousness is now totally removed from those cleansed by His blood.
